GR House
Búzios, Brazil
Project: Irina Bruscky
Surface: 100m2
To the north of Rio de Janeiro, Búzios is a seaside resort that has lost none of its charm amidst urban growth.
This house is built on a steeply sloping plot in a rapidly expanding urban neighborhood. Current regulations reducing the buildable surface area have led to a compact design for the house, but one that makes the most of generous outdoor spaces.
Designed and laid out as real living spaces, with wooden terraces and pergolas, outdoor areas function as “buffer” spaces, playing a role in thermal comfort and extending the surface area of the house.
This project seeks to enhance the view and the existing vegetation, having a reduced impact on the topography of the site.
